Civil engineering is the oldest branch of the profession of engineering after military engineering. This discipline deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings.
Rah Shahr Civil Department was established in 1992. For the first three years, both the studies and designing programs were specialized in structural engineering, but since 1995 its programs have been extended to other fields of civil engineering. The members of the department are creative, detail-oriented and able to work as part of the team. The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) is an organizational unit to centralizing and coordinating the management of projects under its domain. The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) is a service provider for Rah Shahr International Group, created for the specific purpose of supporting Rah Shah’s Portfolios, Programs and Projects.
EPMO provides training, coaching, guiding and mentoring for our project managers- providing a workforce of competent project managers. Another EPMO’s aim is to standardize project management methodology, continuous project management optimization, Portfolio management and transferring knowledge through coaching and mentorship.

A geographic information system (GIS), captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that refers to or is linked to location. GIS describes any information system that integrates, stores, edits, analyzes, shares, and displays geographic information and are tools that allow users to create interactive queries (user created searches), analyze spatial information, edit data, maps, and present the results of all these operations. Geographic information science is the science underlying the geographic concepts, applications and systems.
At Rah Shahr International Group, GIS technology is used for scientific investigations, resource management, asset management, environmental impact assessment, urban planning, cartography, geographic history, marketing, logistics, and other purposes. International Projects Department strives to empower Rah Shahr International Group for developing and spreading new ideas, conceptualizing creative thoughts and their engineering and execution in order to respond to international requirements.
Thoughtful planning, precision and expedience are three major assests of IPD.
IPD is responsible for planning, evaluating and supervising the international projects through:

The most important responsibilities of any project manager include planning, executing plans, and project control.
Planning is one of the rudiments, born with successful people. People, organizations and governments with more precise planning, are more efficient; because when situations are planned, they can perform better. Project Management is the most important factor in project success or failure. Most of the projects are completed more costly and later than estimated. Planning and Project Control as the project manager’s most important tools show the project horizon and prepare the opportunity for better understanding and prediction of situations.
In order to improve project and resource management, Enterprise Project Management (EPM), especially in project-based organizations, is required.
EPM encompasses all systems in an organization. These systems provide project management, resource management, project documentation management and facilities for easier and better working conditions for managers, project team members and all others involved in the project.

In the Planning and Project Control Department, we decided to implement EPM and in a short time, and with effort and determination this goal was achieved.

activity identification, time requirements, … (considering limitations)

The R&D Department of Rah Shahr International Group was formed almost immediately after the incorporation of the company with the aim of obtaining and collecting engineering related data and information and utilizing it in its design projects as well as conveying them to the company’s existing and potential clients and technical institutions, national and local authorities.

The activities of the R&D Dept. started by translating building engineering related subjects, compiling and issuing them in the form of periodical magazines and occasional technical bulletins distributed free of charge to organizations and clients.

The department later on engaged in writing and translating technical, engineering and miscellaneous books as part of its promotion scheme. These too were distributed free of charge to institutions as well as polytechnics and universities in order to share new technologies and know-how and published by themselves and sometimes doing the same for governmental institutions and ministries. The scope of the subjects of all publications is quite diversified and their titles are listed below.
It is noteworthy that some of Rah Shahr International Group’s own publications are prepared as part of a scheme that every Rah Shahr department or affiliated company* should devote between 5 to 10 percent of its net income for R&D activities. The said amount is either paid in cash to the R&D dept. to undertake its responsibilities or submitted in the form of a technical article to be published after review, edit and acceptance by the R&D dept.

* There are currently 25 Rah Shahr departments and 15 Rah Shahr affiliated national and international companies.
